Squamish: So, Canada Post is finally getting back to business! After more than a month of picketing, employees will return to work on Tuesday. The federal government stepped in to help end the standstill.

Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon had to get involved, directing the Canada Industrial Relations Board to order the 55,000 workers back if no deal was reached soon. It sounds like things were getting pretty tense!

Canada Post announced that after two days of talks, they hit a wall. But the good news is that union members will go back to work under their current contract, which has been extended until May. This gives everyone some breathing room to negotiate.

In the meantime, they’ve agreed to a five percent wage increase for the workers, which is retroactive to when the old agreements expired. That’s a nice little boost for them!

And there’s more happening in the news. In Squamish, emergency crews found a body after a mudslide hit a home. They’re still searching for another person who’s missing. It’s a tough situation, and our thoughts are with everyone affected.

Also, a memorial service was held for former B.C. premier John Horgan, who passed away last month. Thousands gathered to pay their respects, showing just how much he meant to the community.

On the political front, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland is set to unveil an economic update today. It’s the first since Trump’s election, and it’s expected to include plans to boost business investment in Canada.

Lastly, there’s a byelection happening in Cloverdale—Langley City today. It’s another test for Trudeau and the Liberals, who have faced some tough losses recently. Fingers crossed for them!
