Stroud: The first weekend of February brought Potato Day to Stroud Farmers Market. It was a lively event, filled with excitement and delicious food.

Visitors explored many seed potato varieties, from Vivaldi to Picasso. Many eager growers picked their favorites and even tried some new ones. Norah Kennedy baked a tasty potato cake for everyone to enjoy.

Amanda Godber, the director of Down to Earth Stroud, was there to help. She shared interesting facts about potatoes, like how there are over 100 edible varieties.

Did you know potatoes come from South America? Peru, Bolivia, and the Andes are their origins. China is the largest potato producer, while Idaho in the US is known as the potato state and has its own museum.
