Langton Herring: The Friends of the Elm Tree pub are on a mission. They want to save their local pub, which has been a community hub for over 300 years. Recently, they posted a fun TikTok video that got over 1.7 million views.

In the video, locals like Tim and Hilary Warren use playful Gen Z slang. This time, the stars are the village dogs, who humorously take over the video. The caption reads, “POV: The village dogs hacked into your TikTok account.”

People loved it! One viewer said, “It’s even better with dogs.” Another from New York commented on how well the dogs matched their voices. The video has almost 3,000 views and keeps growing.

While the video is light-hearted, it carries a serious message. The campaigners want to reopen the pub as a community asset. The Elm Tree Inn closed in November 2023 due to declining trade.

The Friends of the Elm Tree need to raise £200,000 by March 3. They’re selling shares from £200 to £65,000 and reaching out to local businesses for support.

They’ve also launched a crowdfunding campaign. If you want to help, check out their page at https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/friends-of-the-elm-tree-inn.
