Troon: The Glen Sannox ferry is finally in action! The crew welcomed passengers aboard early Monday morning, kicking off its service to Arran.

After a successful test run on Sunday, CalMac announced they had sorted out some last-minute issues with the vessel.

Originally, this ferry was supposed to launch back in 2018, but it faced a bunch of delays and technical hiccups at the Ferguson Marine shipyard.

Last week, John Swinney apologized to the islanders affected by these delays, acknowledging the frustration.

During the test run, the Glen Sannox carried 154 foot passengers, 53 cars, and two commercial vehicles, proving it was ready for service.

Duncan Mackison, CalMac’s chief executive, expressed excitement about the ferry joining the fleet, emphasizing the hard work that went into getting it ready.

Scotland’s Minister for Agriculture, Jim Fairlie, shared his delight on social media, noting the ferry’s importance for the communities that depend on it.

Residents of Arran have been eagerly anticipating the ferry’s arrival, with local leaders expressing their enthusiasm for the new service.

Sheila Gilmore from VisitArran mentioned the emotional moment when they first saw the ferry in the bay, highlighting the community’s hope for reliable service.

Despite some skepticism due to past delays, there’s a strong sense of optimism that the Glen Sannox will enhance the ferry network and improve reliability.
