Douglas: It’s a sad time in the community as we remember Robert and Carolyn Watson. They were a couple who truly touched the hearts of many.

Robert passed away on January 7, and Carolyn followed just a day later. They were married for over 60 years, which is just incredible.

They ran Watson’s Nurseries in Greeba, a place that started with Robert and his son Nick at the Glen Vine Garden Centre. Carolyn had a cafe there called the ‘Grapevine’ that everyone loved for her delicious cakes.

In the late 1980s, they moved the family business to Greeba, where it has been ever since. They were not just business owners; they were active in the community too.

Robert served as the chair of Marown Commissioners and judged local produce shows. Carolyn was a big supporter of Hospice and even chaired the Douglas Hospice Committee.

A spokesperson from Watson’s Nurseries shared their heartbreak, saying it’s comforting to know they are together now. They were a true team in life.

They enjoyed their holidays and cherished time with family and friends. Their absence will be deeply felt by everyone who knew them.

They leave behind two sons, Nick and Simon, along with their extended family, including granddaughters Katie, Alice, Victoria, and Charlotte.

People have been sharing their condolences on social media, remembering the couple fondly. One person mentioned how lovely they were and how proud they were of their family.

Another shared how they became friends through taxi rides, highlighting Carolyn’s genuine interest in others. It’s clear they made a lasting impact on everyone around them.
