Bury St Edmunds: So, there was a bit of a scare today in the town center. A police cordon was set up after some suspicious packages were spotted.

It all kicked off around 10:04 AM when staff at a building on St Andrew’s Street North noticed something odd and called the cops.

Next thing you know, the bomb squad was on the scene, and they evacuated nearby buildings and sealed off the road. It was quite the scene!

But don’t worry, it turned out those packages were just training aids linked to the courts at Triton House. No danger to anyone, thankfully.

The police said the calls were made in good faith, which is always good to hear. Triton House is where the county court and family court are located, so it makes sense people were concerned.

While all this was happening, the bus station was closed, and a 100-meter cordon was put in place. Even the Jobcentre Plus and some local businesses had to clear out.

Now, the good news is that the police have lifted the cordon, and everything is back to normal. They thanked everyone for their patience during the whole ordeal.
