Sheerness: Can you believe it? Just a week before opening, a burger van got broken into! Charlie Harris, the co-owner, was totally shocked when he found out.

He and his cousin Jay had poured over £1,500 into fixing up the van, which was parked at the Co-op Sports and Social Club. They were all set to start serving up some tasty food.

Charlie locked up the van after a long day of renovations on January 4. But when he came back three days later, it was a different story. The door had been pried open, and it looked like a mess inside.

He said he was just disappointed, especially since they hadn’t even opened for business yet. They had done so much work, including new electrics and appliances, and now it felt like a huge setback.

Charlie hopes the van will become a local favorite, serving food during football matches and offering takeaways. He’s been running a pest control business on the island for a couple of years, so he knows the community well.

Interestingly, the van used to be called the Fat Boys Snack Bar, and Charlie found out the previous owners had been burgled three times! Now, they’re adding even more security, like steel bars and cameras, to keep it safe.

Even though nothing was stolen, the place was completely trashed. It seems like the burglar was looking for cash or food, but they left empty-handed. Charlie even mentioned that the culprit might have hurt themselves trying to break in.

With the opening day pushed back, Charlie and Jay are determined to make things right. They’re spending more money on security and have even posted an appeal on social media for anyone with information.

Kent Police are on the case, reviewing CCTV footage and asking anyone who knows something to come forward. It’s a tough break, but Charlie is hopeful they’ll get through this.
