London: A guy named Johnny Scott really made a mess when he crashed his car into Buckingham Palace. He caused over £24,000 in damage to the gates. It happened early on March 9 last year, and he seemed pretty out of it when it all went down.
When the police showed up, they arrested him right away. He was taken to the hospital afterward. Luckily, no royals were home at the time, so everyone was safe.
The court found out that the crash wrecked the palace’s fancy black iron gates. Scott, who lives in Hornchurch, east London, showed up in court on January 16 and admitted to causing the damage.
The prosecutor mentioned that he looked a bit fidgety and confused, saying something about needing to fix things, but he didn’t go into detail. They noted he’s usually a good guy.
The judge hinted that he probably wouldn’t go to jail and might get a community service sentence instead. She acknowledged his early guilty plea, which could help him out. Medical reports are being prepared for his next court date on February 13, and he’s out on conditional bail for now.
