Miami: So, it looks like Deshaun Watson is in a bit of a pickle. He just had his second surgery on that pesky right Achilles tendon. The Browns confirmed that Dr. Bob Anderson, a well-known foot and ankle specialist from Charlotte, handled both surgeries.
The first one went down on October 25, and the second one was just this past Thursday. But here’s the kicker: how did he end up re-rupturing his Achilles?
Well, according to the team, when Watson showed up for his exit physical at the CrossCountry Mortgage Campus, he mentioned feeling discomfort after rolling his ankle in Miami. An MRI revealed the unfortunate news—a re-rupture of his Achilles tendon. Now, his recovery timeline is up in the air, and it sounds like he might miss a big chunk of the 2025 season.
Honestly, it’s looking more likely that he’ll sit out the entire 2025 season. Since the Browns traded three first-round picks and handed him a fully guaranteed $230 million deal before the 2022 season, Watson has only started 19 games. That’s a tough break.
To make matters worse, the Browns are on the hook for $46 million each of the next two seasons, with cap hits of $72.9 million for both 2025 and 2026. Ouch!
