Salisbury: An engineering manager is raising funds for a local primary school. He wants to provide outdoor equipment in memory of his younger brother, Mark. Mark passed away on December 29 at Exeter Hospital.
Russell Hartford lives in Salisbury. He lost his brother, Mark, who was 38. Mark was a single father to two boys, Jax, 10, and Leo, 8. They now live with their grandparents in Bratton Fleming.
After Mark’s private funeral, the family held a celebration of life. This event took place at St John’s Garden Centre in Ashford, Barnstaple. Russell and his family wanted to do something special for the boys.
They decided to raise money for Bratton Fleming Primary School. Russell set up a GoFundMe page with an initial goal of £800. Thanks to generous donations, he quickly met this target and raised it to £1,300, which was also achieved.
Russell plans to keep fundraising to help even more. He will work with the school’s PTA to decide how to spend the donations. His youngest brother is a carpenter, so they hope to use his skills for the project.
With help from his father and brothers, Russell believes they can complete the work themselves. This way, they can make the donations stretch further. You can support Russell and his family through the GoFundMe link.
