Broncos and Jets Never Came Close to a Deal for Jerry Jeudy

Recent reports suggest the Jets’ trade talks for Jerry Jeudy were never serious, despite wild claims about Madden ratings influencing decisions.

Denver: So, there’s this wild story going around about the Jets and Broncos trying to trade for Jerry Jeudy. Apparently, it got pretty crazy. The Athletic had this piece saying Jets owner Woody Johnson stopped the trade because Jeudy’s Madden rating was too low. Can you believe that?

The article claimed the Jets were close to sealing the deal, but then Johnson pulled the plug over a video game rating. It sounds like something out of a sitcom, right? But then Jeudy himself called it “fake news.”

I decided to dig a little deeper. Turns out, the talks weren’t as close as everyone thought. The Broncos’ G.M. George Paton was juggling multiple offers. The Jets were in the mix, but they only offered a fourth-round pick and receiver Allen Lazard. The Broncos weren’t having it.

According to sources, there was a “zero percent chance” the Broncos would accept that deal. So, when the talks ended, it wasn’t because of Johnson’s Madden concerns. They were just never really on the verge of a trade.

Maybe if the Jets had sweetened the offer, things could have changed. But it wasn’t like they were about to finalize anything when Woody barged in and yelled to stop. The Broncos were never going to take that offer, plain and simple.
