London: So, there’s this shocking story about a British Transport Police sergeant named Ian Koch. He was found to have treated two of his ex-partners really badly. It turns out he used some pretty awful language and was controlling, which is just unacceptable.
During a misconduct hearing, it came out that he called one woman a “p***” in texts and even made fun of her skin getting darker in the sun. Can you believe that? He also forced her to send a work email calling herself a “whore” just for kissing someone. That’s just cruel.
Another woman, who dated him too, said he did similar stuff. He even had this nasty nickname for her that was part of a racist slang. It’s just mind-boggling how someone in his position could act like that.
Both women reported him to the police, but sadly, no charges were ever brought against him. One of the women said her six-year relationship with him left her feeling completely shattered. The other spent weekends crying. It’s heartbreaking.
Interestingly, some of his colleagues spoke up for him, saying he had a good side. But the chair of the hearing, Arwel Jones, said Koch was dishonest and tried to play the victim. He didn’t even show up for the hearing!
In the end, they found that he had seriously breached conduct standards and would have been fired if he hadn’t resigned first. The panel said his behavior was abusive and offensive, and it could really hurt public trust in the police.
Detective Superintendent Peter Fulton from the BTP said Koch’s actions were frightening and completely against what’s expected from a police officer. It’s just a sad reminder of how some people can misuse their power.
Even though the police investigated, the Crown Prosecution Service didn’t find enough evidence to charge him. It’s frustrating to see how these situations can slip through the cracks.
