Middlesbrough: A 28-year-old woman named Kim Hall is in a tough spot today. She’s in court in Chicago, facing some serious drug charges that could land her in prison for 60 years.
Kim was stopped at O’Hare airport while returning from Mexico back in August. She claims she’s innocent and says she was forced to carry the suitcases at gunpoint.
In her bags, authorities found a whopping 43 kilograms of cocaine, valued at around £15 million. That’s a lot of trouble for anyone!
Kim, who works as a beautician, insists she’s never been in trouble before. She told the press, “I’m not a bad person. I didn’t knowingly smuggle drugs.”
She says two guys she met in Portugal promised her a free trip to Cancun. But once she got there, they threatened her and made her carry the bags back to the UK.
She thought she was bringing back cash, not drugs. The hearing is happening today, and her dad even flew out to support her, criticizing the UK government for not stepping in to help.
