Bristol: A local pub, the Kings Head, has made quite a comeback. After being closed during the Covid pandemic, it’s now a runner-up for the CAMRA Heritage Award. The pub got a major facelift thanks to Good Chemistry Brewery.

This place is special. It’s Grade II listed and has some of the oldest bar fittings in the UK. Plus, there’s a snug that looks like a tramcar! The co-owners, Kelly Sidgwick and Bob Cary, are thrilled to be the new caretakers of this historic gem.

They took over at the end of 2022 and really put in the effort to restore the pub’s charm while keeping its historical significance intact. They’ve also made it a go-to spot for craft beers from independent breweries across the country.

Paul Ainsworth, the award coordinator, highlighted how tough it is for pubs to reopen after closing. He believes these awards shine a light on the hard work that goes into saving local pubs, which are vital for community spirit.
