Bristol: A motorcyclist is pretty upset after getting fined at Bristol Airport. He stopped briefly to check a tariff board in a no stopping zone and now he’s raising some serious safety concerns.

Rob Hinks, who rode his bike to the airport to pick up a friend, says the signs are confusing. He thought he could park in the multi-storey car park, but when he got there, he saw a no entry sign for motorbikes. Talk about frustrating!

Right now, the airport is undergoing a big £400 million development to improve the road network and build a new public transport interchange. But it seems like the no stopping rules are making things tricky for everyone.

Rob claims that the no stopping zone makes it unsafe for pedestrians because drivers are too scared to stop. He got fined for just pausing to figure out where to park, which seems a bit harsh.

He mentioned that the signs at the airport are misleading. After checking the website, he thought he was good to go, but the reality was different. It’s a bit of a mess, really.

The airport has acknowledged the issue, saying they’ve had problems with vehicles stopping in unsafe spots for years. They’ve put up signs to prevent that, but it seems like it’s causing more confusion than anything.

Rob eventually found a place to park, but not without some hassle. He was charged less than two weeks later, but after he raised his concerns, the charge was canceled. At least there’s a silver lining!

He feels the airport needs to improve its signage and make it safer for everyone. It’s all about making sure drivers can stop for pedestrians without worrying about getting fined.

In the end, Rob decided to fly from London Gatwick instead, feeling that Bristol Airport’s issues are self-inflicted. He just wants a safer experience for motorcyclists and pedestrians alike.

Once the new public transport interchange is done, the airport says it will be easier for motorists to access the multi-storey car park. Here’s hoping they get it sorted soon!
