Hove: A 21-year-old man from Brighton has admitted to kidnapping a woman. This happened when he appeared in front of a crown court judge.
Cameron Boxall, living on Carden Hill, forced a woman into his car. This occurred just a few streets away from Hove Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty.
Sussex Police reported that Boxall asked the woman for directions. Then, without warning, he forced her into the passenger seat of his car.
The victim, a 20-year-old local woman, was walking home from work. She noticed a black Mini at the junction of Church Road and Palmeira Avenue.
After giving directions, Boxall suddenly pushed her into the car. She fought back, keeping her legs outside to keep the door open.
Eventually, he pushed her out of the car and drove away. The victim called for help, and nearby people alerted the police.
Officers quickly searched for the stolen vehicle. They discovered it had been taken from Brighton the night before.
The Mini was found later that day. Boxall was arrested and had clothing matching the driver seen in CCTV footage.
Location data from his phone also placed him near the scene during the crime. He admitted to all charges in court.
Boxall has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on March 3.
Detective Inspector Duncan Elliott led the investigation. He praised the victim for her bravery and strength during the ordeal.
Thanks to her details and police efforts, they quickly identified Boxall as the suspect and brought him into custody.
