Glasgow: A cheeky thief was caught on camera stealing a phone from a restaurant. It all started when he asked for hot water for his Pot Noodle.

Benjawan Torrance’s wife had just opened The Thai Bar & Restaurant when this guy walked in around lunchtime. He claimed he was really hungry and needed hot water. Feeling sympathetic, the staff decided to help him out.

But then, the shocking part! The CCTV footage shows him checking where Benjawan’s wife was and where her phone was. He casually swiped the phone and stuffed it in his pocket. Benjawan said his wife was in the kitchen and didn’t even notice it was gone.

They only realized something was off about 15 minutes later when Benjawan came to pick her up. They couldn’t find the phone anywhere. After checking a linked watch, they figured out it had been stolen.

His wife panicked because her credit cards were with the phone. They quickly called the banks to cancel everything. But by then, the thief had already made off to Morrisons, racking up over £300 in charges.

Benjawan said it was clear this wasn’t just a random act. It was planned. His wife felt terrible because she was just trying to help someone who looked hungry. It’s a tough lesson learned for them.

Glasgow Live has reached out to the police for more info on this incident.
