Boy Stabbed in Park Hours Before New Year Celebrations
A 17-year-old boy was hospitalized after being stabbed in Guildford during New Year’s Eve festivities, prompting a police investigation.

Sydney: A teenage boy is recovering in the hospital after a stabbing incident during New Year’s Eve celebrations. It happened in Bright Park, Guildford, just before midnight.
Police rushed to the scene after getting reports of the attack. Apparently, a group of guys was setting off fireworks when a 17-year-old was stabbed in the back.
After the incident, the attacker took off, leaving the boy behind. He was treated by paramedics and taken to the hospital, where he’s in serious but stable condition.
Despite this, the night was mostly peaceful. Over 205,000 people gathered around Sydney Harbour to enjoy the famous fireworks show.
While there were some arrests for various offenses, most folks behaved well. Assistant Commissioner Peter McKenna noted that the majority of the crowd had a great time.
He reassured everyone that police were on high alert to keep the celebrations safe. They had officers everywhere, ensuring that the night was memorable for all the right reasons.
