Brisbane, Australia, Ashley Paul Griffith, Child Abuse, Police Inaction

Brisbane: You won’t believe the latest on Ashley Paul Griffith, the guy who’s been labeled Australia’s worst pedophile. A mother recently shared how her complaints about him were brushed off by the police a decade ago.

Griffith, who used to work in childcare, got a life sentence last November for his horrific crimes across Queensland, dating back to 2003. But it turns out there are even more charges against him from NSW childcare centers.

What’s really shocking is that back in 2009, a mother reported Griffith for allegedly abusing her son, but the police decided there was no case. Can you imagine? Her son was under his care at a Brisbane daycare in 2007, and it wasn’t until two years later that he finally spoke up about the abuse.

She told A Current Affair that when her son said, “Ashley hurt me,” it all clicked for her. But when they went to the police, they were dismissive, saying it was just a “rough nappy change.” How frustrating must that have been for her?

She described how her four-year-old was put in a room with two officers who didn’t even connect with him. He didn’t share anything meaningful, and they barely asked any questions. In the end, they told her there was nothing to investigate, leaving her feeling bewildered and disbelieved.

Queensland Police later confirmed that a complaint was made back in 2009 about Griffith, but they claimed there was no evidence of any offense. They even said the child didn’t disclose anything significant during their interview.

It’s heartbreaking to think that this mother felt like she was going crazy for raising concerns that were ignored. The police did refer her to the Australian Federal Police, but it’s still a tough pill to swallow.

Griffith’s crimes are extensive, with over 300 charges related to child sexual abuse. He’s been sentenced to life in prison, and he won’t even be eligible for parole for 27 years. By then, he’ll be 71 years old.

Judge Paul Smith didn’t hold back, saying the offenses were serious and involved a significant breach of trust. Parents expect their kids to be safe in childcare, and this case is a stark reminder of how wrong things can go.

It’s chilling to think that police found over 600 images and 1800 videos on Griffith’s devices, all meticulously categorized. He targeted very young girls, mostly between the ages of 3 and 5. It’s a nightmare scenario that no parent should ever have to face.
