Watford: Parts of the M1 are still closed after a body was found on the side of the road. This happened on Monday, and police are looking into what happened to the man.
They’re treating his death as “unexplained,” and Hertfordshire Police are on the case. As of Tuesday morning, one of the three northbound lanes between junctions five and six is still blocked off.
Police got the call after the body was discovered in some undergrowth along the motorway. They’re trying to figure out how the man died and will be in the area for a while longer.
Drivers are still facing some delays since one lane is closed. Yesterday, some folks had to wait up to 90 minutes because of the closures, according to the Watford Observer.
National Highways said the police wrapped up their investigation early Tuesday morning. They tweeted that the M1 northbound between junctions four and five has reopened, but lane one is still closed for safety reasons.
Police are back at the scene today to keep digging into this mysterious death. Just last month, there were major delays on the M1 due to a vehicle fire in Northamptonshire, so it’s been a rough time for drivers.
