Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, or BMC, is gearing up to develop a massive 53-hectare green space along the Mumbai Coastal Road. This project is part of their effort to enhance the area while working with private companies under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

They’ve already invited expressions of interest from organizations looking to partner up. The Coastal Road project is nearing completion, and now they want to reclaim some coastal land to create this green area. Companies that get involved will be responsible for maintaining it for the next 30 years.

Overall, they plan to create a total of 70 hectares of green space on both sides of the Coastal Road, which runs from the Bandra-Worli Sea Link to Marine Drive. It’s a big step towards making the city greener and more enjoyable for everyone.

The BMC is looking to fund this project through CSR, so they won’t be dipping into their own budget. They estimate the project could cost around Rs 400 crore, but it’s all about getting private companies to pitch in.

The Coastal Road itself stretches about 10.58 kilometers, and the development will include parks, gardens, water bodies, and walkways for both cyclists and pedestrians. They’re also planning to add features like urban forests, butterfly gardens, and even open-air gyms. Sounds like a great way to make the city a bit more vibrant, right?
