Bloomington, Indiana, Snowstorm, Closures, Travel Warnings

Bloomington: The city is waking up to a fresh blanket of snow. It’s a good idea to keep checking for updates on snow totals, weather forecasts, and travel conditions throughout the day.

Travel is pretty tricky this morning. Monroe, Brown, Lawrence, and Morgan counties are under a travel warning, which is the highest advisory level. Meanwhile, Owen, Greene, and Martin counties are on a travel watch, so only essential trips are advised.

As for closures today, several places in Bloomington are shutting their doors. Monroe County government offices, including courts, are closed. Special Olympics practice and Meals on Wheels deliveries are also canceled. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Bloomington won’t be open, and some IU Health offices are closed too, so it’s best to check with your provider.

Schools are also affected. The Bloomfield School District is closed, but it’s an eLearning day, so teachers will post assignments online. Brown County Schools are closed as well, with a board meeting rescheduled for next week. All Monroe County Community School Corporation schools are closed, including after-school activities.

Stay safe out there, and if you need to add any closures to the list, just shoot an email to mediatips@heraldt.com.
