Owen Sound: Ontario is getting hit hard with lake-effect snow again. This time, it’s accompanied by a blizzard warning and some pretty strong winds.

Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued blizzard warnings for areas around Lake Huron, including Owen Sound and Blue Mountains. It’s not looking good for travel.

Snow squalls are expected to keep going, especially near Lake Huron, where blizzard conditions could last into Thursday morning. The winds are really kicking up, too, gusting between 50 and 80 km/h.

With all that blowing snow, visibility is going to be terrible. If you have to travel, be careful. Some areas could see over 30 cm of snow, which is a lot!

Highway 21 has already been closed due to poor conditions and an incident. So, if you’re in that area, it’s best to stay put and keep an eye on the weather updates.

More heavy snow is expected through Friday, especially for places like Kincardine and Hanover. The warnings are serious—ECCC says travel will be extremely hazardous.

Snow squalls are affecting major highways, and some areas in the Greater Toronto Area might see some snow later in the day. It’s a good idea to stay updated on alerts.

Winds are going to be strong all day, but they should start to ease off in the afternoon. Still, some gusts could reach 60 km/h, so it’s not going to be a walk in the park.

By Friday, some areas could end up with 30-50 cm of snow, making travel really tricky, especially along Highway 21. Whiteout conditions are also expected on Highway 400.

If you must travel, let someone know your plans and carry an emergency kit. It’s better to be safe than sorry!

Looking ahead, we might see a mix of light precipitation this weekend, but temperatures are expected to be all over the place for the rest of December. Stay tuned for updates!
