Winnipeg: Blizzard warnings are still in place across southern Manitoba, making travel pretty risky. The snow and strong winds are really causing some tough driving conditions.
Throughout the day, bursts of snow and high winds have made it feel like a real challenge to get around, especially in the Winnipeg area. Even though Winnipeg itself isn’t under a blizzard warning anymore, the rest of southern Manitoba is still facing some serious weather.
So, if you’re out and about, keep an eye on the road conditions. They can change quickly, and it’s best to stay alert until things calm down later today.
Environment and Climate Change Canada is urging everyone to prepare for rapidly changing travel conditions. They recommend staying indoors or in your vehicle if you get stuck. It’s all about keeping safe out there!
As a cold front sweeps through the Prairies, expect gusty winds and more snow. Travel could be nearly impossible at times, with visibility dropping to almost nothing.
Winds of 60-70 km/h are expected, and in some areas, they could even hit 100 km/h. While there might not be a ton of snow accumulation in the city, areas further north could see 10-20 cm of snow. Just be careful on the highways!
And it’s not just the snow; dangerously cold temperatures are on the way for the weekend. Arctic air is moving in, and it’s going to feel a lot colder than usual.
So, if you’re in Manitoba, stay warm and stay safe!
