Surfers Paradise: So, there was this wild scene in Surfers Paradise over the weekend. A bunch of underground explosions went off, and it really shook things up.

Police had to step in and set up an exclusion zone, locking down a big part of the area for several hours. It was a bit chaotic, to say the least.

They told everyone to steer clear and even made residents stay indoors while they figured things out. Thankfully, the lockdown was lifted by Sunday evening.

People shared some crazy pictures online, showing a massive hole that opened up right on the corner of Cavill Avenue. It looked pretty intense!

Even after the lockdown ended, police kept some road closures in place, and pedestrian access was still limited around Cavill and Orchid Avenues.

One video that made the rounds showed emergency services on the scene, and you could hear a small bang followed by sparks flying from the hole. It was wild!

Some folks on social media mentioned hearing at least two explosions. One person even shared their shock, saying they almost pushed their baby in a pram right over the explosion!

Now, the police are digging into what exactly happened. Surfers Paradise is usually buzzing with tourists, bars, and restaurants, especially during the Schoolies celebrations.
