Calgary: After a snowy weekend, the Prairies are in for more snow starting Wednesday. It’s going to be a bit of a mess out there.

Moisture from the Pacific is moving in, hitting British Columbia first before making its way over the Rockies. By Wednesday, the snow will start falling in Alberta.

Calgary will see its first real snow of the month, with a few centimeters expected. A weather system forming in southern Alberta will keep the snow coming into the afternoon.

As the system moves south into Montana overnight, it’ll take the snow with it. But don’t worry, more snow is on the way for central Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan.

Edmonton and areas near the Saskatchewan border are in for a heavy snowfall. Regina is also in the path of this storm, so it’s going to be a snowy day.

Wind gusts of 40-60 km/h will whip the snow around, making driving tricky. In some areas, gusts could reach up to 80 km/h, especially in southern Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan.

Evening commutes on Wednesday could be hazardous. With the early sunset, visibility will drop, so it’s best to avoid driving if you can.

By Thursday morning, the snow should wrap up in Saskatchewan, moving into southern Manitoba overnight. But don’t get too comfortable; Arctic air is coming in, dropping temperatures to around -20°C.

There’s a brief warm-up on the way, but more Arctic air will hit just in time for the weekend. So, keep an eye on the weather as we get closer to Christmas.
