Chicago: The Blackhawks are shaking things up a bit. They sent Kevin Korchinski back to the AHL and brought up Wyatt Kaiser. This move comes just before their game against the Dallas Stars.
Korchinski will head to the Rockford IceHogs after playing nine games with the Blackhawks. Unfortunately, he didn’t score any points and had a rough -5 rating. He was mainly on the third pairing, so it makes sense for him to get more ice time in the AHL.
On the flip side, Kaiser has been doing well in the AHL. He played four games there and managed to get a point. His strength is more on the defensive side, so he should fit right back in with the Blackhawks.
Even though Korchinski didn’t shine this time, he’s got potential. He just needs more playing time to build his confidence. Rockford will give him that chance to play more and hopefully win some games.
Kaiser, on the other hand, has been with the Blackhawks for 28 games this season. He’s a bit more ready for the NHL, ranking third on the team for blocked shots. He’s also been pretty active on the ice, which is great for the team.
Both of these guys are part of the Blackhawks’ future plans. They’re hoping to develop them into key players as they move forward.
