Washington: So, it looks like Donald Trump’s inauguration is going to be indoors this year. The weather is just too cold for an outdoor ceremony, which is a big deal since it hasn’t happened since 1985.

Officials announced that the event will be held in the U.S. Capitol’s Rotunda. That’s the big, round room right under the dome. It’s a nice spot, but it’s not the same as being outside.

Temperatures are expected to drop to around -5°C (23°F), and with the wind chill, it’ll feel even colder. Yikes! The last time they had to move the inauguration inside was when Ronald Reagan was sworn in for his second term, and it was freezing then too.

Inaugurations are supposed to happen every four years on January 20, no matter the weather. Usually, they take place on the West Front of the Capitol, with a view of the National Mall and the Washington Monument. It’s quite a sight!

These ceremonies can go on for hours, so being outside in that kind of cold would be tough for everyone involved. After some speeches and performances, they’ll get to the swearing-in part, which is always a big moment.
