Birmingham: So, there was a fire at the Tyseley waste and recycling center, but the good news is it’s fully reopened now. The fire broke out yesterday morning, around 9:45 AM, and they had to close part of the tip.
Fire crews were on it, with about six teams working hard to put it out. The fire was in an indoor rubbish pit, which is pretty big—about 15 meters by 15 meters. Thankfully, no one got hurt, and everyone was safe.
Even with the fire, household waste collections weren’t affected, which is a relief. The center is back to normal today, so you can drop off your recycling without any worries.
Local councilor Majid Mahmood mentioned that the fire was small and that emergency services did a great job getting it under control quickly. They redirected waste to a nearby transfer station while they sorted things out.
The West Midlands Fire Service also reported that they made good progress with the fire, using hoses and a water cannon. They even had a crane moving the waste around to help clear things up.
In the end, it’s all good news. The facility is open again, and everything is back to normal for the residents.
