Make sure you complete your application online before midnight. Don’t forget to pick three school preferences. If you need to change anything, you’ve got to do it before the deadline.
The council emphasizes that it’s all on you, so double-check your forms. They’ve warned that if you miss the deadline, your application will be considered late, which means you might not get your top choice.
A spokesperson from Birmingham City Council stressed the importance of applying online before the deadline. They recommend checking school websites for virtual open sessions and any extra forms you might need.
Children typically start school after their fourth birthday, so if your little one was born between September 1, 2020, and August 31, 2021, they can start in September 2025.
Adam Ames, headteacher at Pegasus Primary, has shared some great tips on choosing the right school. He discussed everything from Ofsted reports to trusting your instincts on the Brummie Mummies Podcast.
It’s also a good idea to read the admission arrangements for the schools you’re interested in. This will help you understand how likely it is that your child will get a spot.
Don’t forget to check the cut-off distances for each school. Just because your neighbor got in last year doesn’t mean it’ll be the same this year.
Make sure to list up to three schools and include any siblings already attending. Remember, just being in a nursery doesn’t guarantee a spot.
Finally, if you need to make changes, do it before midnight tomorrow and remember to resubmit your application. Otherwise, it won’t be processed.
