Atherton: So, there’s this guy, Leon ‘Aki’ Atkinson, who’s in a bit of a pickle. He’s a big-time drug dealer, and he’s currently serving a 15-year sentence for his role in a massive cocaine operation.
He recently showed up in court, claiming he’s broke and in danger because he owes a rival a whopping £220,000. Can you believe that? He’s saying he’s got no money and no assets, except for a measly £420 found on him when he got arrested.
Atkinson, who was caught up in a £1 million cocaine supply racket, tried to convince the judge that he didn’t profit from his drug dealing. But the judge wasn’t buying it. He ruled that Atkinson had hidden assets worth at least £28,000, and the total amount he made from his drug dealings was estimated to be over £1.2 million.
He even claimed he had to sell his house to pay off a previous debt and moved his family into a rental. It sounds like a real mess. He said he was just earning a wage and that a fancy Rolex seized by the police was actually a fake.
Atkinson also mentioned that he got threats while in prison, which he thinks are linked to his drug debt. He’s been trying to play the victim card, but the judge wasn’t having it. He’s got three months to cough up that £28,000 or face more time behind bars.
Interestingly, during a search of his home, police found letters from Dale Cregan, a notorious cop killer. Cregan is serving a life sentence for multiple murders, including two police officers. Atkinson was even accused of being involved in a revenge plot related to Cregan, but he denied it and was acquitted.
