WASHINGTON: So, Biden recently had some strong words about how red states managed their economies during the pandemic. He really thinks they dropped the ball, especially when it came to manufacturing and supply chains.

In a chat with Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC, he pointed out that the administration actually invested more in those red states than in blue ones. It’s interesting, right? He also admitted that Democrats could’ve done a better job of bragging about their successes.

Biden mentioned that he felt they missed chances to let voters know about the good stuff they were doing, like infrastructure projects. He said he should’ve made it clear that these achievements were thanks to the Democrats.

He even called it a “mistake” not to get allies to acknowledge their contributions. If a new bridge was built, he wanted people to know it was the Democrats who made it happen.

He reflected on how he might’ve focused too much on policy and not enough on the political side of things. It’s all about the messaging, right?

He also talked about the stimulus checks, saying it crossed his mind to sign them. He noted that Trump putting his name on those checks wasn’t a bad move for him politically.

Biden felt that it helped Trump a lot and made it harder for Democrats to claim credit for getting those checks out. It’s all about perception, after all.

Back in March 2021, Biden signed a massive $1.9 trillion stimulus bill called the American Rescue Plan. It was a big deal, especially since the economy was struggling due to the pandemic.

This plan included direct cash payments of $1,400 for folks within a certain income range. The White House was pretty proud of it, claiming it led to a historic recovery.

In his farewell address, Biden warned about some serious threats to the future, like an “oligarchy taking shape.” He’s been doing a few interviews as he wraps up his time in office, but the White House hasn’t set up a final news conference yet.

It’s a lot to unpack, but it’s clear Biden is reflecting on both the successes and the challenges of his presidency.
