An author’s search for the Bible John killer hits a roadblock as DNA leads go cold

Glasgow: So, there’s this author, Jill Bavin-Mizzi, who’s been on a mission to find out who Bible John really is. But she just hit a snag. Turns out, her main suspect, John Templeton, doesn’t have any living relatives in Scotland. Bummer, right?
Jill, who’s from Australia, thought she had it all figured out. She pointed the finger at Templeton, who died in Glasgow back in 2015. He was linked to the murder of Helen Puttock, one of the three victims from way back in the 1960s.
She even hired a private investigator in Edinburgh to dig into Templeton’s family tree. But no luck with the DNA match from the evidence found on Helen’s clothing. Jill’s pretty frustrated, saying the only way to prove Templeton is Bible John is through DNA.
She’s not giving up, though. Jill believes Templeton is the guy and wants answers for the families of the victims. She’s now hoping to find a relative in England, but that’s proving to be a bit tricky.
Last year, she managed to track down Templeton’s ex-wife, who shared a photo of him that looks a lot like a police sketch. Plus, she revealed that Templeton was questioned by detectives just months after Helen’s murder in 1969.
Jill’s investigation has been quite the journey. She even looked into another suspect, John McInnes, who was also linked to the case. But when they dug up his body, there was no match with the DNA from Helen’s clothing. It’s all a bit of a mystery.
Jill’s been piecing together family trees and has traced both Templeton and McInnes back to a village in Ayrshire. The victims were all found near their homes after spending time at the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow.
Police Scotland is still on the case, saying they’ll keep reviewing any new info that comes in. It’s a tough road, but Jill’s determined to get to the bottom of this.
