Beed: The family of Santosh Deshmukh, a sarpanch who was murdered, is really pushing for justice. They think the people who did it might have some political protection. Dhananjay Deshmukh, Santosh’s brother, is confident that a proper investigation will show if the killers had any backing.

It’s a tough situation. Santosh was taken, tortured, and killed back in December. This was supposedly because he tried to stop some shady extortion activities linked to a windmill project. So far, seven people have been arrested, but one is still on the run.

Things got a bit more complicated when Walmik Karad, who’s connected to a local NCP minister, was arrested for a related extortion case. People in Paithan, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, even held a protest, demanding that everyone involved be caught and punished.

Dhananjay is really vocal about his concerns. He believes there’s a whole organized crime thing going on and that the criminals feel untouchable. He said it seems like they were told they had nothing to worry about. He’s adamant that the investigation will uncover any political ties.

Despite the time that’s passed, one suspect is still out there, and Dhananjay thinks others helped the criminals too. He’s convinced that the protection they had made it easier for them to commit such a terrible act.

The family even met with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to push for justice. They pointed out that some of the accused have criminal backgrounds and want action taken. The CM promised that everyone involved would be caught and face the music.
