Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: So, there’s been some serious drama in Beed lately. OBC activist Laxman Hake is calling out Manoj Jarange and BJP MLA Suresh Dhas for making light of the murder case involving Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh.
Deshmukh was kidnapped and killed back on December 9, and it seems he was trying to stop some shady extortion stuff linked to a windmill project. The police have arrested seven people so far, but the case is getting messy with all the caste politics involved.
Deshmukh was a Maratha, and most of the accused are from the Vanjari community, which is pretty dominant in that area. This has led to some heated calls for NCP minister Dhananjay Munde to step down, with folks claiming his aide might be connected to the murder.
At a condolence meeting, Hake didn’t hold back. He questioned where Dhas was when police were attacked during Jarange’s protests. It seems Dhas has changed his tune since the last elections, trying to keep Munde from becoming the guardian minister of Beed.
Hake also mentioned that they’ve never played politics with such serious matters and are worried about the fear spreading among the OBC community. He criticized Jarange, saying he’s not really knowledgeable about the reservation issues and that the OBC community is now facing the brunt of the blame.
He even took a jab at NCP chief Sharad Pawar, asking why he didn’t visit the family of Somnath Suryavanshi, who died in custody after some violent protests. It’s a lot to unpack, and the tension in Beed is definitely rising.
