Durham: Meryl Williams, who won a share of the prize on BBC’s The Traitors, had a rough time on a train. Four teenagers made fun of her dwarfism during the ride.
She posted on TikTok about how she ended up hiding in the toilets to escape their comments. It sounds awful, right?
Meryl, who used to work in a call center, explained that the teens sat across from her and started making nasty remarks. They said she needed a stepladder to get on and off the train and even laughed at her fingers.
All this happened in just ten minutes! She felt so alone, with everyone around her just watching and not saying a word.
Thinking quickly, she decided to wait in the toilet until they got off at Durham. She just wanted to avoid any more of their taunts.
Living with dwarfism, Meryl knows she stands out, which makes her an easy target for bullies. She mentioned that she’s faced negative comments before, especially after her appearance on the show.
At 28, she hoped that being on The Traitors would help change how people view her condition, making them kinder in public. It’s a shame that some people still don’t get it.
British Transport Police have been contacted about the incident, and hopefully, they’ll take it seriously.
