East London: EastEnders fans are super excited! There are rumors that Cindy Jr, played by Mimi Keene, might be back for the show’s big 40th-anniversary bash next month. The mystery of who attacked her mum, Cindy Beale, is set to be revealed during this special week.
When Cindy Beale returned to Walford in 2023, it sparked a heartfelt family reunion. Her son Peter had already connected with his half-sisters, Gina and Anna, before Cindy made her grand entrance.
Long-time viewers will remember Lucy Beale, Cindy’s eldest daughter, who tragically died in 2014. But Cindy Jr is still waiting for her moment to shine on-screen with her mum.
Back in 1998, Cindy was thought to have died during childbirth while in prison for plotting against her ex-husband, Ian Beale. Little did Cindy Jr know, her mum was actually living under witness protection all this time.
Fast forward to April 2024, and EastEnders is teasing updates about Cindy Jr as the Beales mark ten years since Lucy’s passing. During this emotional time, Cindy received a sweet message from Cindy Jr, which made her want to reconnect.
Even though Cindy Jr had previously shut the door on their relationship, it seems like there’s hope for a reunion. Ian, who had a close bond with Cindy Jr, let her know how much her mum missed her.
Cindy was relieved to hear from her daughter, even if their last meeting didn’t go so well. They still haven’t had that long-awaited reunion yet.
Cindy Jr first appeared in 2007, and later, Mimi Keene took over the role. She moved to Albert Square to be closer to her half-siblings after learning about her mother’s supposed death.
Ian and Jane Beale became like parents to her, but Cindy Jr had a rebellious side that often got her into trouble. Despite her antics, fans couldn’t help but root for her.
She got caught up in the intense “Who killed Lucy Beale” storyline but eventually left Walford in 2015 with her boyfriend, Liam Butcher, for a fresh start in Germany. She also became a young mum at just 15.
Since then, we haven’t heard much about her return to the Square.
On Christmas Day, Cindy was attacked by someone unknown after her affair was revealed. While she’s recovering in the hospital, she’s trying to piece together what happened but can’t remember who hit her.
Interestingly, Cindy Jr hasn’t visited her mum while she’s been in a coma. EastEnders has confirmed that the identity of Cindy’s attacker will be revealed during the 40th-anniversary week, leading to speculation that Cindy Jr might finally return.
According to reports, Mimi Keene is the favorite to reprise her role, with odds currently in her favor. This news comes as Ross Kemp is also set to return to Walford as Grant Mitchell.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30 PM on BBC One and iPlayer.
