Basingstoke, UK, Daniel Harris, St Michael’s Hospice, Court Case
Basingstoke: So, there’s this guy, Daniel Harris, 36, who got into some trouble recently. He showed up at the Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court and admitted to messing up some electrical cables and lights at a local hospice. The damage was under a grand, but still, not cool, right?
This all went down back in June 2024. Harris didn’t have a good reason for what he did, and the court said he either meant to cause the damage or just didn’t care if he did.
The prosecutors were pretty upset, saying his actions showed a total lack of respect for the place and the people who rely on it. In the end, he got an eight-month prison sentence, but it’s suspended for a year. So, he won’t go to jail right now, but he has to follow some rules.
He’s got to attend up to ten days of rehab activities, which sounds like a good plan. Plus, he has to cough up £480 to St Michael’s Hospice to cover the damage. The court thought his actions were serious enough to consider jail time, but since he pleaded guilty, they decided to give him a break.
