Edinburgh: Bank of Scotland, Lloyds, and Halifax customers had a tough Monday. Their apps and online banking faced major issues, causing chaos at the start of the week.

After about three hours, the apps are back up and running. This outage follows a recent three-day disruption for Barclays customers due to an IT problem.

A spokesperson from Lloyds Banking Group said they know some customers had payment issues. They assured everyone that services are back to normal and advised not to resend payments.

Unlike telecom companies, banks don’t have to reimburse customers for service drops. However, Jenny Ross from Which? Money believes customers should be compensated quickly.

She emphasized that technical faults can have serious impacts. This latest issue is concerning, especially after Barclays’ outage left some unable to buy food.

Ross warned that these problems could lead to missed bill payments and overdraft fees. She urged Lloyds and Halifax to keep customers informed and compensate them for any losses.

Many customers took to social media to voice their frustrations. One Bank of Scotland user on X asked about a payment that hadn’t arrived from two different banks.
