Liverpool: So, there was quite a scene at the Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester United. Eight people got detained after some pretty awful chanting about tragedies. Not cool at all.
Among those arrested were a 46-year-old guy from Church Warsop and a 28-year-old from Hendersonville, Tennessee. They were taken in under the Public Order Act for their chanting. It’s serious stuff.
Now, the police are also looking to interview others, including a 21-year-old from Bala. They’re not messing around with this. Other folks being questioned include a 42-year-old from Hale and a 30-year-old from Stockport.
Merseyside Police Chief Inspector Lisa Ledder had some strong words about this. She said that chanting about tragedies really hurts the families involved. It’s not just banter; it’s disrespectful.
She emphasized that this kind of behavior has no place in football. The police are working with clubs to catch those responsible and make sure they face consequences. It’s a clear message: if you engage in this kind of behavior, you could end up with a criminal record.
