New York: The Jets’ 2024 season is turning out to be a real bummer. They’re sitting at a disappointing 3-9, and now they’re likely missing two of their young stars for the game against the Miami Dolphins.
Breece Hall, the running back, is out with a knee injury. Sauce Gardner, the cornerback, is doubtful to play. When a player is marked doubtful, it usually means they won’t be on the field. Plus, C.J. Mosley is heading to injured reserve after a season plagued with injuries.
Hall has had a rough go this season. He fumbled twice last week while trying to push through his knee issue. With 692 rushing yards over 12 games and only one 100-yard game, it makes sense for the Jets to sit him out since they’re not in the playoff race.
Rookie Braelon Allen will step up as the main back. He’s had 240 yards on 67 carries this season, so it’ll be interesting to see how he performs.
As for Gardner, he’s also had a tough season. He’s likely out with a hamstring injury and hasn’t snagged an interception this year, which is surprising for last year’s Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Mosley, a five-time Pro Bowler, is dealing with a neck injury and is likely done for the season. He’s only played in four games, which has hurt the Jets’ defense big time.
The Jets have been struggling all season, and this will mark their 14th consecutive year without a playoff berth—the longest drought in the NFL. Losing three key players isn’t going to help them turn things around anytime soon.
