B.C. Endures One of Its Driest Januarys on Record

Vancouver: It’s been super dry in British Columbia lately. We’re talking about one of the driest Januarys on record. Just a few weeks ago, we had a lot of rain, but now? Not so much.
Right now, Vancouver has only seen about 29.2 mm of rain this month. That’s pretty wild considering how much rain we usually get. Normally, we’d expect around 162 mm in January!
And guess what? The forecast doesn’t look promising. It seems like this dry spell is going to stick around for a while. No big rainstorms are on the horizon, from Tofino all the way down to California.
So, if you’re hoping for some fresh snow for skiing or snowboarding, you might be out of luck. It’s all sunshine and no snow for now. Just a heads up if you’re planning a trip to the slopes!
This kind of dry weather in January is pretty rare for B.C. The wettest January ever recorded was back in 1935, when we got nearly 428 mm of rain. Can you believe that?
