Logan: So, there’s this wild story coming out of Queensland, Australia. A social media influencer got herself into some serious trouble. She’s accused of filming her baby while the little one was in a lot of pain and distress. Then, she posted those videos online to try and get donations from her followers. Can you believe that?
The woman, who’s 34, was arrested in Logan, which is just south of Brisbane. She’s facing a bunch of charges, including administering poison with the intent to harm and making child exploitation material. It’s pretty shocking stuff.
Apparently, she managed to defraud people out of around A$60,000 through GoFundMe. That’s a hefty sum! The police are saying that the baby could have gotten really sick or even worse if she had stayed in the woman’s care. Thankfully, the baby is doing okay now.
Last October, the baby had a serious medical issue and ended up in the hospital. That’s when doctors started to get worried. They found out that the woman had been giving her child some prescription meds without any approval. Just wild!
Detective Inspector Paul Dalton mentioned that they believe she did this to boost her social media presence and make some cash. It’s just sad to think someone would go to such lengths to exploit their own child.
Once the doctors raised the alarm, the police jumped into action. They said she took photos and videos of her baby in distress to lure in donations and followers. It’s just heartbreaking.
Mr. Dalton also said they’re working with GoFundMe to return the money to those who donated. The woman is set to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court soon. It’s a tough reminder that there’s no excuse for harming a child, especially a little one who relies on adults for care.
