Stourport: Emma Riddington and Max Pegram, a couple from Wangaratta, Victoria, traveled to Stourport to celebrate their tenth anniversary. They were visiting friends who own a pub, The Black Star, and wanted to surprise them.
They had a blast during the birthday weekend, but when they got back to Australia, they found a parking fine waiting for them. Emma wants to share their experience to help others avoid the same fate.
After picking up their hire car from Birmingham airport, they parked in a lot that was supposedly good for 24-hour parking. But when they tried to pay, the machine only offered a two-hour option. They thought it was a mistake and figured they could just top it up later.
When they mentioned where they parked to other guests, they were warned to move the car immediately due to past issues with fines. They did move it, but it was too late, and they ended up with a hefty fine.
Emma explained that they always pay for parking and would have happily paid for the full 24 hours if the machine had let them. She reached out to Future Parking to explain the situation, but they insisted she either pay the fine or appeal it.
She was frustrated, saying, “We wanted to pay for 24-hour parking but couldn’t select the option.” The fine, which totals nearly $300 AUD, has left a sour taste in their mouths.
Emma expressed her disappointment, saying she won’t be using Future Parking again and warned others to be careful. She feels like they’ve been treated unfairly, especially since they just wanted to enjoy their time in Stourport.
Despite the fine, they had a wonderful time celebrating with their friends and loved the community at the pub. But now, that fine is overshadowing their memories of the trip.
Future Parking has not commented on the couple’s situation.
