Stafford: So, there’s this guy named Samuel Turner who hit a nasty pothole and is now after over £2,000 from Severn Trent. He wrecked his tyre and alloy on Sandon Road, and it sounds like a real mess.

Apparently, the pothole was around a manhole cover and about three inches deep. Samuel’s not happy, and he’s blaming Severn Trent since Staffordshire County Council had already told them about the issue.

Samuel shared that when he hit the pothole, he heard a loud crack, and his warning lights lit up. He took his car to the garage, and they found out it wasn’t just the tyre that was damaged; the alloy was cracked too. They fixed it, but then the alloy broke again, ruining his new tyre.

He’s been hit with a bunch of costs: £90 for welding the alloy, £150 for each of the three new tyres, and £1,500 for a replacement alloy. Plus, he’s been stuck taking trains and booking hotels for work in London, which has added up.

Samuel, who’s 30 and works as a flight attendant, reached out to the council, and they passed it to their lawyers. They found out the council knew about the pothole but had already told Severn Trent, so they’re pointing fingers at each other.

He even sent photos of the pothole to Severn Trent, but they only offered him £300 for the hassle. Samuel feels like they’re just passing the blame around and not taking responsibility.

He’s not looking for a huge payout; he just wants them to cover the damages. Severn Trent is in touch with him, and a spokesperson said they’re passing the issue to their insurance team for review.
