Oldham: A man was arrested for attempted murder after a nurse was stabbed at Royal Oldham Hospital’s A&E. It all went down late Saturday night.

Police got the call around 11:30 PM about a stabbing. They found that a member of the public had attacked a nurse with something sharp, but it wasn’t a knife.

The nurse, in her 50s, is in serious condition and still in the hospital. Her injuries are said to be life-changing, which is really concerning.

Officers took a 37-year-old man into custody right at the scene. Thankfully, they don’t think anyone else is involved and say there’s no wider threat to the public.

Detective Sergeant Craig Roters mentioned that this is a serious situation and that they’re thinking of the nurse’s family and colleagues. They’re also ramping up police presence in the area to reassure the community.

He encouraged anyone with concerns to talk to the officers around. It’s definitely a shocking incident, and they want to make sure everyone feels safe.
