Stoke-on-Trent: It was a tense day for schools in the area. At least six schools got a threatening email, which led to some going into lockdown. Birches Head Academy and St Peter’s Academy were among those affected.
Birches Head decided to go into a partial lockdown after getting the email. The police later confirmed it was a hoax, which was a relief for everyone.
They arrested an 18-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent for sending the message. He’s out on bail while the investigation continues.
Today, a police spokesperson said they received multiple reports from schools. It seems the email might have gone to even more schools in the area.
A spokesperson from Birches Head Academy emphasized their commitment to student safety. They felt it was best to keep students inside while the police handled the situation.
It’s good to see the schools taking precautions, but it’s unfortunate that this happened at all.
