Assistant head struck off after asking ex-pupil for bath photo

Swaffham: So, there’s this wild story about a teacher named Michael Lee. He was an assistant head at Swaffham Bulbeck Church of England Primary School. Turns out, he got himself into some serious trouble for asking a former student for bath photos. Yeah, you heard that right!

The Teaching Regulation Agency had a hearing about him, and they decided to ban him from teaching. They found that he crossed some major lines by chatting inappropriately with a former pupil. It was deemed sexual misconduct, which is a big deal.

Lee worked at the school from 2016 to 2020. Back in 2017, the school gave him a written warning after they found out about his behavior. But when the school joined a new trust in 2019, they took another look at the situation and referred it to the TRA.

During the hearing, it came out that he had become friends with the girl on Facebook. He even called her “stunning” and asked about her love life. Things got really creepy when he asked her for pictures while she was in the bath and later when she was in bed.

Lee admitted his actions were “horrendous” and said he made a “grave error.” But he thought he should still be allowed to teach, calling it just a “mistake.” The panel didn’t buy it, though. They said his actions were unacceptable and banned him indefinitely.

Now, he can’t teach anywhere in England, not even in youth accommodations or children’s homes. The trust that oversees the school said they took the matter seriously and prioritized the safety of their students. They’re committed to making sure kids are safe and happy at school.
