Tarneit: So, there’s been a bit of a situation in Victoria. A guy got charged for starting fires while the area is already dealing with some serious bushfire issues.

This 29-year-old was picked up on Tuesday morning for allegedly lighting four different fires in his neighborhood last week. Not cool, right?

Emergency crews had to rush to four separate fires in Tarneit between December 19 and 20. It was a busy time for them!

They tackled a grass fire on Homebush Drive, a blaze at a house under construction on Lidar Walk, and a couple more grass fires on Cassina Circuit and a nearby creek bed.

Now, this guy is facing some hefty charges, including intentionally causing bushfires and criminal damage. He’s set to appear in court on Wednesday.

Police even searched his house on Tuesday morning. They’re asking anyone who might have seen something or has footage to step forward.

His arrest comes as firefighters are still battling large bushfires in other parts of Victoria. It’s a tough time for them.

In fact, hundreds of firefighters are working hard to control the blazes in Grampians National Park. It’s a big deal, with over 44,000 hectares already burnt.

And just to add to the stress, a total fire ban is coming into effect on Boxing Day, with temperatures expected to hit the high 30s. Yikes!

Residents in nearby areas are still being told it’s not safe to go back home yet. Firefighting crews, including 18 aircraft and 600 firefighters, are on the scene, some even coming from other states to help out.
