Erdington: So, the other day, four guys got arrested in Birmingham. The police were checking out a car wash and some shops. They were on the lookout for illegal workers and exploitation.
This all went down on High Street, and it was part of something called Operation Fearless. The police teamed up with immigration officials to see who was working without the proper papers.
A police spokesperson mentioned that they were there to help vulnerable people and tackle illegal working. They checked out a few businesses and had a chat with the workers.
They said, “We’re here to drive down crime and make life better for everyone in Erdington.” This operation kicked off just a couple of days before the arrests.
Det Supt Jim Munro, who’s involved in the operation, emphasized their commitment to making Erdington safer. He pointed out that illegal workers often face exploitation and can fall victim to other crimes.
He added that they’ll always take action against those profiting from exploiting these workers. It’s all about keeping the community safe and looking out for those who might be in a tough spot.
